My Philosopy When Traveling

History has been my lifelong companion and friend. It can result in loads of “comments” from my family. I am just as happy in the corridors of a history museum as my daughter is in a zoo, my wife in an art museum or my son on a beach. It was one of my two majors in undergrad. Teaching history could have been my career if there were any professorships possible in the 1970s when I would have attended grad school. They were rare as hensteeth. So I did what many other history grads did and applied to law school. I do not regret my path because I continued to pursue my history passion (often to the chagrine of my children as I drug them around various battlegrounds and historic buildings).

Which brings us back to this blog. My daughter (and occasionally my wife) contend that I put too much emphasis on the history of where I am rather than what I am experiencing. To me, I see no distinction because I want to understand what events influenced what I am experiencing. So, be warned that my contributions to this blog will involve a fair amount of the history of the place as well as my observations of the food and culture.
