A Monkey’s Tale

While staying next to a national forest, Kingston and I were treated to pre-dinner entertainment show, courtesy of a family of Bonnet Macaques outside of our hotel window. As any good blogger / photographer does, I captured the show on my phone to relay the saga–“A Monkey’s Tale”. Enjoy.

The curtains open. Enter Antonio (Monkey 1), who has just stolen a discarded Chapati (Indian flat bread) from offstage.

Antonio: “Score! Chapati for dinner!”
Antonio: (om nom nom nom)
Antonio: “Oh look, my friend Brad is coming over.”
Brad: (enters with fruit in hand, ready for dinner).
Antonio and Brad: (om nom nom nom)
Brad (internal thoughts): Wait, what is Antonio eating? Chapati?
Brad (internal thoughts): I want chapati…
Brad: (decides to steal the chapati; drops fruit)
Antonio: “Brad? What are you doing?”
Antonio: (internal freak out to save chapati)
Antonio: “Brad! No!”
Brad: “Gimme the chapati, Antonio, and no one will get hurt.”
Antonio: “The chapati is mine!”
Brad: “GIMME THE CHAPATI, ANTONIO!”
Antonio: “NEVER!”

(Cue chase scene)

(The two monkeys disappear into the tree. Stage fades to black).

P.S. I’m still alive. And we will never know who got the chapati in the end.
